Final rounds rescheduled in Top Sportsman and Top Dragster competition
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (September 7, 2010) – Final elimination rounds in the last Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts event were delayed during the recent Teamsters Union "Thunder by the Beach" race at the Grand Bend Motorplex, and these finals will take place this Saturday, September 11, at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.
Over 45 Top Sportsman and Top Dragster teams were on hand to qualify for one of the 16 starting spots for each class in this sixth event of 2010. Only the first round of eliminations took place, and the action will continue at Cayuga.
Qualifying number one on the Top Sportsman side was 2009 Quick 32 Sportsman Series Champion Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ontario, who will meet up with number 13 starter Steve Parkhurst of Belleville, Ontario for the second round.
Other Top Sportsman cars to make the second round include the Ontario-based teams of Spencer Hyde of Stratford, Phil Sampson of Granton, Rob Gray of Ingersoll, Steve Corriveau of Fonthill, Dan Aitken of Belle River, and Darrin Grubb of Pine River.
On the Top Dragster side after one round, Larry Kilpatrick of London, Ontario will face up against Scott Wildgust of Wartburg, Ontario. The New York State teams of Sam Christian of Kenmore will be pitted against Jim Rubino of Buffalo. Ontario's Jamie Bridge of Napanee will face Bill Moloughney of Shawville, Quebec, and Johnny Hipwell of St. Catharines, Ontario will race Buddy Forrest of Rochester, New York.
Eliminations are scheduled to begin at Cayuga at 1:00 p.m. Elimination in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series Consolation events will also begin at this time.
A rain date of Sunday, September 12 has been established if needed.
