BRISTOL, Tenn. (Sept. 16) - They don't call Bristol Dragway Thunder Valley for nothing.
The famed quartermile will live up to its reputation Friday, Sept. 24-Sunday, Sept. 26 when it hosts the Fas Mart Thunder Valley Mayhem presented by JanPak as part of the 30th anniversary Super Chevy Show tour when it visits Bristol Dragway.
The national touring series, which features a car show, sportsman, pro show racing and swap meet, welcomes 10 Nitro Extreme Pro Mods as part of the Thunder Valley Mayhem on Saturday, Sept. 25, with all competitors also making exhibition passes on Sunday.
Doug Winters highlights the list of entrants that also includes Bill Clanton, Dwayne Watkins, Ken Walsh, Jerry Hunt, Ellis Vial, Andy Beal, Bruce Stedry, Bruce Boland and Chris Russo.
"We are thrilled to have such a strong lineup of Nitro Extreme Pro Mods," said Brandon Cross, Bristol Dragway manager. "These drivers know how to put on a show with their huge, smokey burnouts and big speeds.
"They really test the limits of the machines and themselves as they wrestle their cars through Thunder Valley. They are an awesome addition to our Fas Mart Thunder Valley Mayhem on Saturday evening. One thing is for sure: The fans are going to get their money's worth."
The Pro Mods will make runs at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, with sessions scheduled for 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
That won't be the only draw to the Super Chevy Show, which begins on Sept. 24 with its traditional Friday Night Test-N-Tune.
Saturday will also be highlighted by the Chattanooga Choo-Choo and Cannonball Express jet trains, the always popular Tranasaurus and the Shockwave jet truck. Benny the Bomb and Freestyle Moto-Cross will also be part of the show, which will be topped off by a fireworks show.
Sportsman will take to the track in four categories, including the popular True Street bracket with a bonus race on Saturday and elimination brackets on Sunday.
The Keisler Engineering car show, including the new Bowtie Boulevard, will take center stage on Saturday and Sunday. The Bowtie Boulevard, formerly known as Show-N-Shine, provides Chevy car and truck owners the opportunity to display their automobiles in the show lot at each of the remaining events on the Super Chevy Show 30th Anniversary tour. The cost is $35 per entry, and will provide each driver the same access of a full event ticket at a $5 savings.
Spectator Admission for the Super Chevy Show is $10 Friday and $20 both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s admission includes Thunder Valley Mayhem. A weekend pass is available for $30. Ages 10 and under are $5 per day, or $10 for the weekend. Full hook-up camping is available for $100.
