IHRA Announces Division 1, Division 3 Summit Pro-Am Tour Schedules

IHRA announces 2014 Division 1,

Division 3 Summit Pro-Am Tour schedules

NORWALK, Ohio (November 21, 2013) – The International Hot Rod Association announced today the official schedules for the Division 1 and Division 3 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL season that will include stops at familiar tracks throughout the northeast.

Those stops include Richmond Dragway, Maryland International Raceway and Pittsburgh Raceway Park for Division 1 and London Dragway, Grand Bend Motorplex, Pittsburgh Raceway Park and U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Division 3. Pittsburgh Raceway Park will welcome both divisions in a dual divisional event in July.

All events will feature a double race weekend with full races on Saturday and Sunday. Racers that finish within the top three in their divisional points will earn an automatic bid to the 2014 Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions at Memphis International Raceway in October.

"I am looking forward to another great season of racing in both the Patriots and North Stars Divisions in 2014," said Jon O'Neal, IHRA Division Director. "There are a lot of great competitors in these two divisions and the championship battles are always among some of the best on the entire Summit Pro-Am Tour. This year both divisions will feature similar schedules with a few more standalone events to maximize track time for the racers."

Beginning with Division 1, racers will kick off the Patriots Division season at one of the favorite stops of competitors with Richmond Dragway the weekend of April 25-27. "The support and hospitality the Davis family puts into this season opener is unparalleled in the Tour," O'Neal said. Richmond is followed by a return trip to Maryland International Raceway the weekend of June 13-15 and the season wrapup at Pittsburgh Raceway Park the weekend of July 11-13.

The Summit Pro-Am Tour race at MIR will be run in conjunction with the Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series event being held that same weekend. The remaining Division 1 races will be standalone events.

Division 3 will include four stops and eight races in 2014 with returns stops to London Dragway the weekend of May 30-June 1, opening the season at what has proven to be a new gentle giant in the schedule. Grand Bend Motorplex hosts its race the weekend of June 20-22 and U.S. 131 Motorsports Park the weekend of August 15-17. New to the schedule will be a stop at Pittsburgh Raceway Park the weekend of July 11-13 for a dual divisional event with points and division claims available for racers in both Divisions 1 and 3.

The Summit Pro-Am Tour race at the Grand Bend Motorplex will be run in conjunction with the Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series, while the remaining Division 3 races will be standalone events.

The full Division 1 and Division 3 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL season schedules can be found below. For more information on the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour please visit www.ihra.com.
