Interviews and personal appearances are a major focus
Parma Heights, Ohio (Sept. 23, 2010) – The Quarter Mile Foundation has announced an ambitious schedule for the 2010 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nev. (November 2-5, 2010).
“We have a tremendous program of activities planned,” said Traci Hrudka, Chairman of the Quarter Mile Foundation. “We have commitments from a number of racing and industry pioneers for personal appearances and for film interviews over the course of the show. Additionally, we are pleased to have one of the iconic race cars of the sport, a reproduction of Junior Thompson’s B/Gas 1941 “Old Black Studebaker” which won the “Little Eliminator” championship at the 1958 U.S. Nationals as a part of the display.”
The Quarter Mile Foundation/PROJECT 1320 display will be in the Central Hall East Lobby area in front of the Racing & Performance section of the show in the Central Hall. This high traffic area will be where the Hotel buses will load and unload, and attendees will enter the show area.
The Quarter Mile Foundation/PROJECT 1320 display will be hosting personal appearances by several drag racing and industry pioneers including:

• Jon Lundberg
• Dave McClelland
• Ed Pink
• Louis Senter
• Carroll Shelby
• Don Smith
• “Speedy Bill” Smith

• “Doc” Watson
• Alex Xydias
Most of these celebrities will be interviewed for the PROJECT 1320 documentary; reflecting upon their careers and how drag racing and the aftermarket developed across over 60 years. The list may expand as other pioneers and legends finalize their schedules.
“The members of the Foundation’s board are very pleased to have the strong support of SEMA and the SEMA Show management to be able use the SEMA Show as a platform to gather the oral histories of these pioneering figures of our sport and industry,” said Ms. Hrudka. “With Isky and Louie, we have two of the core individuals who founded SEMA in 1963, and launched the first SEMA Show at Dodger Stadium in 1967.
“It is only fitting we use SEMA’s showcase event to get their stories and recollections captured for others to understand how our industry came to be, and how drag racing is so intertwined with it!
“The PROJECT 1320 endeavor has made tremendous strides over the past year, and we want to share our growth and passion with our industry, our family.”
