BROUNKOWSKI AND BARTONE COME OUT ON TOP IN CAJUN CHALLENGE
BELLE ROSE, La. (Sept. 20, 2010) – In the final results from No Problem Raceway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Cajun Challenge, David Brounkowski, Cypress, Texas, and Tony Bartone, Long Island City, N.Y., took home the wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively.
Brounkowski worked his way through the field and ran 5.440 seconds at 254.23 mph in his final round victory over Ryan Copeland who clocked in at 5.649 seconds, 250.32 mph.
Bartone faced off against Steve Burck, Corpus Christi, Texas, and posted a winning run of 5.694 seconds, 251.72 mph in his ’09 Mustang. Burck drove to a 6.266 second, 191.81 mph lap for his runner up finish.
Other racers visiting the winner’s circle this weekend were Bruno Massel, Woodridge, Ill., in Comp Eliminator; Kevin Helms, Schriever, La., in Super Stock; Ross Laris, Raceland, La., in Super Comp; David Latino, Donaldsonville, La., in Stock Eliminator; Wes Neely, Florence, Miss., in Super Gas; and Clint Parker, Gilmer, Texas, in Super Street. In the division’s Top Sportsman class it was Keith Raftery, Lake Charles, La., taking the win while Jimmy Lewis, Forney, Texas, won in Top Dragster. Also taking home a win was Ben Brown, Irving, Texas in Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley Davidson.
South Central Division racers head to Thunder Valley Raceway Park for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, Oct. 22-24.
