SZABO BECOMES THREE TIME AEROSPACE COMPONENTS LIMITED STREET WINNER; STAMPS WINS BACK TO BACK AEROSPACE COMPONENTS 12.00 INDEX RACE

GLENDORA, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2010) — Keith Szabo continued his domination of the Aerospace Components Limited Street category during the NHRA Unleashed presented by Lucas Oil event held at National Trail Raceway. Szabo defeated Eric Dillard in the finals to claim his third consecutive category win. Szabo has wins at all three NHRA Unleashed presented by Lucas Oil events.

Szabo, a resident of Gainesville, GA., posted a pass of 4.721 seconds at 169.87 mph with a .031 reaction time to the losing run of 4.612 seconds at 170.61 mph with a reaction time of .147.

The Aerospace Components 12.00 Index also featured a racer that is familiar with the winners circle as Jerry Stamps took home the NHRA Wally trophy for the second consecutive race. The Indianapolis resident defeated Karl Lambert in the finals with a winning run of 12.021 seconds at 110.13 mph to a losing run of 12.042 seconds at 111.84 mph by Lambert.

Winners also included Andrew Parise in Pro Mods; Danny Lowry in Aerospace Components 10.5 Outlaw; Jason Lee in Aerospace Components EZ Street; Aerospace Components 8.5 Index was won by Dennis Mitchell; Aerospace Components 9.0 Index was won by Tim Minkos, a National Trail Raceway weekly racer; Aerospace Components 9.5 Index was won by Dennis Meade, also a National Trail Raceway weekly racer; Randy Conway in Aerospace Components 10.0 Index; Ron Baisden Jr. was the winner of Aerospace Components 11.0 Index; and Dana Thompson took home top spot in Aerospace Components 13.0 Index.

A special ‘Wally Challenge’ race followed the event with Aerospace Component 11.0 Index champion Ron Baisden Jr., given the choice of retaining his freshly won NHRA Wally or re-race runner-up Ron Bowers. Baisden Jr. took the rematch as he had more than enough confidence in his car. In the Wally Challenge he again defeated Bowers, kept hold of his NHRA Wally and pocketed an extra $1,000 for the win. Baisden Jr. posted a run of 11.019 seconds at 120.30 mph over the run of 10.866, 112.37 mph break out run.

“The event was great for the racers, the track worked well, and a lot of the racers were ecstatic with the NHRA Unleashed presented by Lucas Oil event,” said Jim Layton, National Trail Raceway general manager. “We had many of our weekly bracket racers that normally race our events out here and they all had a great time taking part in the event.”

Those at each NHRA Unleashed presented by Lucas Oil event will be sure to tune into Fox Sports Net’s owned and operated regional networks to watch the two half our shows that were filmed at each event. The shows will start on Nov. 7 with footage shot at the Atlanta Dragway event. Steve Watson and Sara Karges acfwill host the NHRA Unleashed presented by Lucas Oil television shows and they will be produced by Disrupt/ive Studios when they hit the airwaves. Disrupt/ive Studios are producers of the wildly popular Pinks™, Pinks All Out™ and Pinks All Outtakes™.

Also during the course of the event fans were able to take part in the third casting session for “Who Wants to Be a Race Car Driver?” a new reality TV show in development with Disrupt/ive Studios. Would be racers moved through the audition line to see if they have what it takes to get a shot at their dream job: a one-year completely funded ride in an NHRA series.

Winners of the car show were Best of Show winner Wesley & Tim Crum of Mount Vernon, Ohio, in their 1974 Chevrolet Biscayne. The top honors in the Mopar class went to Tim Porter from Newark, Ohio, in a 1970 Dodge Challenger. Taking home Outstanding Mopar awards were Paul Hass of Baltimore, Ohio, in a 1970 Plymouth Baracuda; and Cory Barber of Mt Vernon, OH., in a 1970 Dart Swinger.
