Doug Foley To Be Released This Afternoon
CAYUGA, Ontario (September 27, 2006) – Doug Foley will be released from West Haldimand General Hospital in Ontario this afternoon. Following a crash at Toronto Motorsports Park on Monday, Foley was rushed to West Haldimand General for observation. He was then temporarily transported to Hamilton General Hospital for further screening, and then back to Haldimand. The doctor has already issued his release papers, and Foley will fly to his home in New Jersey this evening. Family and friends with Foley said the hospital and nurses have been very accommodating, and Doug is in much better spirits today.

Bruce Litton Conscious After Top Fuel Crash
EPPING, N.H. (September 10, 2006) – Top Fuel driver Bruce Litton, of Indianapolis, Ind., was conscious, alert and talking following a top-end crash during the IHRA’s North American Nationals drag race in Epping, N.H. The driver was competing against Bobby Lagana Jr. in the semifinal round of the event. The on-site physician at New England Dragway ordered Litton to be transported by helicopter to Massachusetts General in Boston.

I was appalled after the National Hot Rod Association announced last week it plans to implement a bastardized version of NASCAR's in-season playoff format. A week later, the timing of the decision by drag racing's Mr. Peabody and Friends looks even more shortsighted.
