NHRA Summit Racing Series, North Central Division Finals, O'Reilly Raceway Park, Indianapolis

O’REILLY RACEWAY PARK WINS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

INDIANAPOLIS, (September 18, 2010) – The Team from O’Reilly Raceway Park took home its fifth Team Championship at this year’s 34th annual NHRA North Central Division Summit Racing Series Finals led by Chad Isley, Charleston, Ill., who just missed the rare double as he advanced to the finals in both the Sportsman and the Super Pro Bike Categories.

The win puts O’Reilly Raceway Park in a tie for second with Kil-Kare Dragway for overall Team Championships, just one behind Edgewater Sports Park with six. Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk, Ohio, and Muncie Dragway, Muncie, Ind., finished in a tie for second place with 45 points, just 4 points behind O’Reilly Raceway Park.

Isely faced off with Akron, Ohio, racer Rick Poole in Super Pro Bike with both riders having identical reaction times and Poole taking the win in 9.425 seconds at 139.39 mph on his ’83 Suzuki out of the Summit Motorsports Park team.

Isley went on to face Doug Thompson of Kil-Kare Dragway in the final of Sportsman knocking out the Columbus, Ohio, racer in his ’73 Duster and will advance to the National Championship in mid-November at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif. This will be Isley’s second trip to Pomona in search of the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship. Isley will be joined by Poole, Shorty Radar and Chase Batt at the National Championship where they will face off against the winners in the six other NHRA divisions.

Radar took home the trophy in the Super Pro category for Lyons Raceway Park with a win over Windy Hollow Dragway racer Scott Stillings, Jeffersonville, Ind. Radar, Martinsville, Ind., went 4.879 seconds at 141.95 mph in his ’10 dragster to beat Stillings and his ’99 Pontiac.

In the Pro category it was Batt, Muncie, Ind., and Muncie Dragway winning on a holeshot in his ’67 Nova. Batt needed the starting line advantage as Nathan Smoot, Republic, Ohio, ran 6.422 seconds on a 6.42 dial in to Batt’s 7.149, (7.12 dial). Smoot was running for Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk, Ohio.

Kevin Rudrick, Fredericktown, Ohio, took the High School trophy back to Pacemakers Dragway Park while Wes Collier, O’Reilly Raceway Park captured the win in the Track Managers race. Rudrick went 94.93 mph in 13.283 seconds with his ’70 Duster to beat Austin Tewell, West Terre Houte, Ind., and Crossroads Dragway. Collier won over Kathey Louden of Tri-State Dragway.
