A Racing Family, With a Female Touch
Through its history, auto racing has belonged to fathers and sons. The Andrettis, the Earnhardts, the Schumachers and the Pettys did not wait long to start teaching their boys to drive. It is no surprise, then, that the winningest driver in National Hot Rod Association history used to dream that he might be such a patriarch. But John Force's crowned prince never arrived. He has four daughters, and one of them, Ashley, is trying to make sure that the family's status as racing royalty lives on.

Sano Grenades Showpiece
Dave Sano suffered a severe loss to one of the most appealing Nostalgia Funny Cars in recent history. Dave set out on a good pass when the converter let loose spinning the motor past its RPM and grenading the bottom end with it. As the cloud of smoke arose, parts of the irreplacable body were still high in the air as Dave struggled to keep the car on the track with a blown rear tire and a stream of broken parts and fluids littering the track. Dave jumped out of the car unhurt and Atco's crew was on hand quickley as the car rested near the guardrail. We're saddened at Daves misfortune and the amount of work it will take to see this car once again. Best wishes to Dave for keeping himself straight and coming out AOK.
