MAPLE GROVE RACEWAY WINS SUMMIT FINALS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
DELMAR, Del. (September 19, 2010) – Maple Grove Raceway scored 87 points to take the Team Championship at this weekend’s NHRA Summit Racing Series Northeast Division Finals at U.S. 13 Dragway in Delmar, Delaware. Maple Grove Raceway, Reading, Pa., was followed by the team from Lebanon Valley Dragway who racked up enough points for second.
Leading the individual winners was Vinny Dimino of Hawley, Pa., in his ’08 dragster taking the win in the Super Pro class over Mike Argoe, Middletown, Del., with a pass of 7.333 seconds at 181.74 mph to Argoe’s 7.468, 167.62.
Butch Weinreich, Jarrettsville, Md., put his ’69 Dart in the winner’s circle for the Heavy class as he recorded an 11.135 second lap at 120.88 mph against Frank Ware Jr., Albany, N.Y., running 120.49 in his Chevelle.
In the Street category, Bill Kirpens Jr., Pittsfield, Mass., was looking to repeat his win from the Race of Champions earlier in the weekend but fell two rounds short as he lost to Bill Hakucsa in the semifinals. The Flanders, N.J., racer went on to meet up with Paul Werner, Sinking Springs, Pa., in the final where he recorded a stellar .009 second reaction time and held on for the win at 11.135, 120.88.
Dale Hamilton, Mt. Airy, Md., and Cody Binkley, Robesonia, Pa., rounded out the weekend’s winners. Hamilton rode his ’04 Suzuki to a lap of 10.284 seconds at 131.19 mph against Jonathan Tisdale, East Hartford, Conn., in the final of Bike and Binkley ousted Justin Hardman, Syracuse, N.Y., for the High School trophy.
