(05-11-10) Commerce, GA -- Spradlin Motorsports with its driver Casey Spradlin is heading into the NHRA Summit Racing Southern Nationals looking to add a Top Sportsman Wally to the Top Dragster Wally earned during the ’09 Cajun SPORTSNationals.
“Having our friends and relatives in attendance at our home national event would make for a great time in the winner’s circle…we’ll try our best to make it happen,” says Casey.
The addition of the Top Sportsman and Top Dragster classes to select national event lineups this season has been a welcome one to Spradlin Motorsports in their quest to win races and ultimately gain more recognition for their list of marketing partners. “We welcome the opportunity to race in front of the crowd that the pros bring in. It’s great for our sponsors and great for our friends to come and see us and the nitro cars at the same time,” adds Spradlin. Casey will try to make the second trip to Atlanta Dragway this season a better one. At the rescheduled Orlando LODRS held at Atlanta Dragway earlier this season, Casey gave away the Top Sportsman win on a redlight in the second round, and in Top Dragster, an empty CO2 bottle deflated his hopes of a second round victory.
This season has so far paled in comparison to the 2009 season in which the team won a total of 4 major races in both Top Sportsman and Top Dragster, including a national event and an IHRA division championship and NHRA division runner-up.
“Last season, the breaks seemed to fall our way, this season we seem to be on the opposite end of those breaks”
Having entered 9 races so far this season, with their McAmis ’37 Chevy Coupe Top Sportsman and Bob’s ProFab Supercharged Top Dragster, and no final round appearances is starting to wane on the team’s confidence. “At every race so far, we have either lost by small margins or encountered breakage. I know we can win, we just have to start making the breaks fall our way.”
Spradlin Motorsports is also grateful for the help from their returning marketing partners like Mickey Thompson Tires, TCI Transmissions, and Tim Gaines Performance. They would also like to extend their appreciation to their new partners for 2010, Smith Brother’s Pushrods and VP Racing Fuels.
