GLENDORA, Calif. (May 11, 2010) — Do you feel like you have what it takes to compete side-by-side with the world’s greatest race car drivers, but just haven’t had the right break to get your career started on the fast track? Line-up, sign-up and be heard at an NHRA Unleashed event coming to your region of the country this year. NHRA and Disrupt/ive Studios are currently in the development stage of a new reality television show to find America’s next great race car driver: “Who Wants to be a Race Car Driver?”
At NHRA Unleashed events scheduled in 2010, the Disrupt/ive Studios team will conduct auditions seeking individuals who have always dreamed of becoming a race car driver. The show, which is currently in the development stage, is planning to select contenders from the thousands of anticipated auditions at NHRA Unleashed events for the potential opportunity to compete for a life-changing prize: A one-year completely funded ride in an NHRA series.
“There are millions of people from all walks of life who get the same thrill when putting the pedal to the metal,” said Stephen Pullin, lead creative director on the crew searching for
America’s next great race car driver. Among Pullin’s credits include producer of the popular PINKS™, PINKS ALL-OUT™ and PINKS ALL OUTTAKES™ show.
“Of those millions, thousands are willing to give up their day jobs for the chance to live out their dreams,” Pullin continued. “We will select the best among our thousands of interviews.”
“Since joining forces with Disrupt/ive Studios, we have spent a tremendous amount of time working on a number of possible projects to celebrate the unique attributes of NHRA and its strength and heritage with the grassroots racer,” said Gary Darcy, senior vice president sales and marketing, NHRA. “We are excited about developing ‘Who Wants to be a Race Car Driver’ and intend to announce additional projects in the near future.”
Over the course of the NHRA Unleashed events, beginning at Atlanta Dragway, June 11-13, the Disrupt/ive Studio team will interview potential candidates for “Who Wants to be a Race Car Driver?” The final candidates selected for the show will go through a grueling test designed to showcase their ability on the track, as well as all the other key attributes needed off-the-track to be a successful race car driver. A selection panel will include current race car drivers, crew chiefs and sponsors.
