Houston Raceway Park ready to dole-out 'PINKS All Out' entries

BAYTOWN, Texas (May 26) -- By the time Houston Raceway Park officials open registration for the "PINKS All Out" event on Oct. 15-16, they'll be the last track on the 2010 schedule with open slots.

"It's going to come down to Houston Raceway Park and we couldn't be happier to welcome back Rich Christensen and the PINKS All Out crew," said Seth Angel, general manager and co-owner of Houston Raceway Park. "These weekends are always a highlight of the year for racers and fans alike and I'm pleased we'll be the last racetrack with spots available for competitors to participate in this very special event.

"PINKS All Out races generally sellout as quickly as the system can handle the incoming registrations but we're going to do something a little different this year to open it up a bit. With racers from around the country anxious to compete, we think this is a good alternative to the usual cattle call."

Interested racers hoping to get one of the 500 spots in the wildly popular SPEED TV series need to be ready to register online at HoustonRaceway.com beginning at 10 a.m. CDT, Monday, June 7, by clicking on the PINKS All Out link under the "Order Tickets" tab. Due to high demand, registration via the phone or in person at the race track will not be accepted.

However, Angel says racers and fans are going to discover a new twist to the way his track will dole out those precious spots.

The first 300 entries will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to racers who fill out the registration form at HoustonRaceway.com beginning at the designated time. The final 200 positions will be handed out through a first-of-its-kind "second-chance" drawing.

To qualify for the second-chance drawing, interested racers must register at HoustonRaceway.com before 5 p.m. CDT, Monday, June 21. The 200 winners of the random second-chance drawing will then be posted on HoustonRaceway.com at 10 a.m., June 28. Those not selected in the second-chance drawing will receive a weekend pass for the event.

"We have heard from some upset racers in the past who've sat by their computers for hours and still weren't able to get a spot," Angel said. "We think this drawing will give the racers who really want a chance to take part in the 'PINKS All Out' experience another chance to enter if they get shut out or aren't able to be in front of their computer right at 10 a.m."
