New car, new power for Orr Motorsports in 2010

Quebec-based Top Sportsman ready for upcoming Quick 32 Sportsman Series

SHAWVILLE, QUEBEC (May 13, 2010) - The Orr Motorsports team will be throwing its hat into the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts ring for 2010 with a full schedule in the Top Sportsman class with a new Jerry Haas Dodge Stratus beginning at the Victoria Day Weekend opening event at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.

The Stratus is a former NHRA Pro Stock car, which was campaigned last year in three NHRA Pro Stock events run out of Haas' trailer. This is a state-of-the-art Hass product from the builder's Missouri shops, with all the tricks, including an all carbon-fiber body, interior and brake system.

Powering the Stratus is a fresh unit from Koffel's Place, the Michigan-based Mopar engine shop. An all-aluminum 604-cubic inch B1 with a Texas race engine 2x4 setup using two stages of nitrous will power the Stratus. The transmission and converter are courtesy of Abrussi Race Transmissions.

Celebrating his 30th year anniversary in racing since starting at nearby Luskville Dragway, the Stratus will be driven by Tom himself. The crew consists of crew chief Bob Brown, along with Suzie Lance and Lance Orr who will also be competing at a few events in the team's Top Dragster.

The Orr team usually race at eight to 12 different tracks each year but the team's favorite is the Grand Bend Motorplex. To compete with the Top Sportsman car the team has to travel at least six hours each weekend with Cayuga being one of the closest tracks. The team also enjoys running at New England Dragway in New Hampshire.

Over the past few years there have been numerous accomplishments in both NHRA and IHRA with many semi-finals, finals, and even a few wins along the way.

Major support comes from the team's group of companies including Orr General Contracting and Orr Waste Services.

Team driver Tom Orr also wanted to thank the continued support of fellow Quick 32 Sportsman Series racers.

"We get a lot of technical help from Koffel's Place in Ohio and Abrussi Transmissions", he said. "We can always rely on Bill Moloughney for help at the track and of course, Jamie Bridge for his help and spiritual guidance."

Orr went on to say he has enjoyed competing and meeting up with his fellow racers.

"We have raced with a lot of the Quick 32 Sportsman racers over the years and feel we will really enjoy the series and the late night 'BS' sessions. And we look forward to continuing with this in 2010."

The Orr Motorsports team page will be up on the company website at http://www.tomorrcartage.com/ in the near future.
