Pittsburgh Raceway Park unveils multiple facility upgrades in anticipation of Nitro Jam debut May 20-21
NEW ALEXANDRIA, Pa. (April 20, 2011) – In anticipation of one of the biggest motorsports events to ever visit western Pennsylvania the staff at Pittsburgh Raceway Park have spent the offseason upgrading the facility and getting it ready for a full season of racing highlighted by the highly anticipated debut of Nitro Jam May 20-21 at the Pittsburgh facility.
Over the past few weeks nothing has been able to slow Pittsburgh Raceway Park owner Michael Tedesco from performing numerous improvements at the IHRA sanctioned drag racing facility in Westmoreland County, including numerous upgrades to the track surface, grandstands and spectator facilities as the track prepares to open its doors for the first time later this month.
“The improvements will be noticed by the racers and by the fans,” said DJ Johnson, Pittsburgh Raceway Park promoter and media director. “Michael wants everyone to enjoy their experience at PRP and I think fans will notice the difference. Everyone here is excited to have Nitro Jam at Pittsburgh Raceway Park. Without a doubt, Nitro Jam will be the biggest drag racing event we have ever held in western Pennsylvania.”
Among the numerous improvements to the facility are new grandstands, additional pavement in the pit area and the area behind the starting line, a new sound system and new LED scoreboards that will light up the top end of the dragstrip.
All of these improvements are designed to create a better experience for the fans and racers as the track prepares for one of its biggest events ever when the world’s fastest cars invade the facility for the Pittsburgh Nitro Jam May 20-21.
“We have wanted to bring Nitro Jam to Pittsburgh for some time and it is great to finally see that happen. The Pittsburgh fans are great and we can’t wait to give them the show of a lifetime,” said Nitro Jam President Aaron Polburn. “This will be a huge event as we bring nitro racing back to Pittsburgh along with a few exciting extras that will make this a truly memorable race.”
After a string of highly successful events in new markets across the country, Nitro Jam now brings its traveling motorsports show to Pittsburgh Raceway Park for its debut event in the state of Pennsylvania. Featuring a huge assortment of nitro-burning vehicles including Pro Fuel Dragsters, Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars and Nitro Harleys combined with a “monster” lineup of great thrill acts including the Grave Digger monster truck, the Shockwave jet semi, wheelstanders and more, the Pittsburgh Nitro Jam promises to have something for everyone all for the lowest prices in the sport.
