2011 NHRA GET SCREENED AMERICA PRO MOD DRAG RACING SERIES TELEVISION SCHEDULE

ESPN2 and ESPN2HD to telecast 10-race season

GLENDORA, Calif. (March 7, 2011) — After much fanfare and success, the NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series enters its second season in 2011, beginning at the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals, March 10-13. The 10-race NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series will be featured on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD.

ESPN2 and ESPN2HD will televise 30-minute highlight shows of the racing action from all 10 NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Series events. The shows will air on a tape delay basis and will recap the weekend’s events, including final elimination coverage of the 16-car fields.

In addition, ESPN International will telecast the events around the world through English-speaking affiliates.

The shows will be produced by ESPN, which has been producing NHRA programming since 2001. Calling the action on the telecast will be veteran NHRA announcer Dave Rieff, who will be joined in the booth by race analyst Mike Dunn.

The formation of the NHRA Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series wouldn’t have been possible without the financial commitment of ProCare Rx and Get Screened America, which agreed to a multi-year commitment to fund the series.

Following the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville (Fla.) Raceway, the schedule features stops at some of the biggest events on the circuit including Las Vegas (April 1-3), Houston (April 29-May 1), Atlanta (May 12-15), Englishtown (June 2-5), Bristol (June 17-19) and Norwalk (June 23-26). The second half of the season will see the 250 mph machines race at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, (Sept. 1-5), the fall national event in Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 15-18), and conclude with a return to Las Vegas (Oct. 27-30).

With body styles ranging from ’41 Willys to '53 Corvettes, ’57 Chevys to ’70 Cudas, and first-generation Camaros and Firebirds, to profiles as racy as the latest Dodge Viper, along with show-quality “themed paint jobs,” Pro Mods have been crowd pleasers at NHRA events for several years as an exhibition. With huge slicks at the rear and superchargers poking through the hoods, there’s no doubt that these cars are a whole lot more than souped-up classics.

ESPN2 is now available in nearly 100 million homes nationwide.
