Rocky Di Lecce steps up to PMRA drag racing for 2012

Pro Modified rookie will compete with supercharged 1968 Camaro

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO (April 20, 2012) – It is always something I have wanted to do, to race in the PMRA.

And for 2012, Rocky Di Lecce has stepped up his drag racing career with his entry into the Pro Modified Racing Association.

Di Lecce said he started drag racing in 1995 in the eight-second Easy Street class, working his way through Super Street and Outlaw 10.5 racing, accomplishing several benchmarks. He was the OSCA champion in 2007, has been nominated as the best Sportsman driver of the year with DragRaceCanada.com, was given the Editor's Choice award with RPM Magazine, and is a member of the six-second club. Di Lecce and his team also won an NSCA championship.

For 2012, he has moved up into the popular Pro Modified class with a 1968 Camaro.

The Camaro is powered by a 526-cubic inch Brad Anderson (BAE) Supercharged Hemi, utilizing a Kobelco Supercharger and Waterman Racing Components fuel system. A three-speed Lenco transmission sits behind the engine all fitted in a Tim McAmis Race Cars chassis.

As driver of the Metro Infrastructure Inc. entry Di Lecce will be assisted by Angelo Aceto as crew chief and other long-time members Emilio Aceto, Kevin Cooper and Tony Presto.

Sponsorship is provided by Metro Infrastructure Inc. and Midway Automotive.

A long-time door car racer, Di Lecce said both he and the car will be ready for opening day.

The car's ready, we heard it running last week, he noted. We'll be doing some testing soon, and then getting down to business. I'm looking forward to the season.

The PMRA gets underway this year with the season-opening Victoria Day Weekend Challenge at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park May 18-20.
