NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Top Alcohol Dragster Final Results from Las Vegas Regional Event

WHITELEY TAKES LUCAS OIL REGIONAL IN VEGAS

LAS VEGAS – Jim Whiteley took the trophy, joining his wife Annie in the winner’s circle (a week late) for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Regional event at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Whiteley, Grand Junction, Colo., defeated Chris Demke, Sunland, Calif., in Top Alcohol Dragster on Saturday posting a run of 263.82 mph in 5.525 seconds to Demke’s 5.802, 261.02.

The final round on March 25th had to be re-run at this past weekend’s Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals when a piece of paper blew through the finish line timing lights giving Demke a inaccurate elapsed time.

Jim’s wife Annie won her first Top Alcohol Funny Car trophy a week ago when she beat veteran racer and former NHRA Lucas Oil Top Alcohol Funny Car Champion Tony Bartone. Jim went on to win the Summitracing.com NHRA Nationals yesterday for his second win in as many days. Annie fell in round one to Shane Westerfield at this weekend’s national event.
