Toyo Tires to Sponsor Autocross at the Super Chevy Show Season Opener

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 17, 2011) -- The Super Chevy Show presented by GM Performance Division season kick-off at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) will feature the Toyo Tires Autocross, in addition to Car Show, Drag Race, and Swap Meet action. PBIR will be one of six tracks on the series 2011 tour hosting the solo timed-course competition which has become all of the rage of muscle car enthusiasts that want to test out everything from their handling and suspension to the grip of their performance tires.

President of PBIR, Jason Rittenberry, sees Autocross at the Super Chevy Show as something very exciting for participants and sponsors. “PBIR has a great road course, and a lot of enthusiasts want to come here and compete. The Super Chevy Show series has visited this facility many times over the years, but has never offered Autocross. We think it brings in a whole new dimension to the audience that wants to spend part of their weekend racing around the road course and the having their car judged in the Car Show area. As for the spectators coming to the event, they can now see a 300 mpg jet car on the dragstrip, incredible collector entries in the car show area, and some amazing Vettes, Camaros, Novas and other Chevy’s from the last fifty years out on the road course.”

For Toyo Tires, sponsoring the Autocross portion of an event becomes almost like hosting an open proving ground for their products. “We are excited to sponsor the Toyo Tires Autocross events in the Super Chevy Show series in 2011,” said Stan Chen, manager of events and motorsports, Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. “Autocross is the perfect venue to demonstrate the winning performance of our Proxes R888 and Proxes RA1 r-compound tires on pro touring style Chevrolets.”

In addition to the PBIR event, Toyo Tires will also join Total Cost Involved, Wilwood Disc Brakes, and Currie Enterprises in sponsoring Autocross on the second stop of the tour at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in late April, and then sponsor Autocross at the Super Chevy Show in Spokane, WA in late July.
