CRUISE TO A SUPER CHEVY SHOW IN 2011

JUPITER, Florida (Feb. 14, 2011) -- Super Chevy Show fans and participants get ready for an incredible season of celebrating one of America’s most beloved automobile brands. The new owners of Super Chevy Show have expanded the 2011 schedule to include new tracks and new locations. An enthusiastic partnership with Source Interlink Media has brought new and enhanced features for participants and fans including more cruises to the events, Autocross, and a 5th Generation Camaro Shootout.

The 2011 Super Chevy Show presented by GM Performance Division tour kicks off at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) April 8-10 and what better way to kick off the season than with a cruise down the Florida highways. Participants and fans will start the cruise from National Parts Depot’s headquarters in Ocala and make a grand entrance into the track, making it a very memorable day of activities. The function will allow Chevy fanatics the opportunity to see a prize-winning collection of restored vehicles during a tour of National Parts Depot’s facility before cruisers hit the road for the four-hour cruise to PBIR. The cruise will include a lunch stop.

“We are very excited to host a Super Chevy Show cruise this year,” said Derek Putnam, Project Manager of National Parts Depot. “We have heard how popular the cruises are in other markets and look forward to bringing a lot of fans in the northern part of Florida down to the event in Palm Beach.”

The Super Chevy Show started adding cruises to its events during the 2010 series, beginning with a cruise from Original Parts Group’s headquarters in Seal Beach, Calif., to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That cruise will take place again on Friday, April 29.

“We are working with the Southern California Chevelle Association and some other clubs to have a strong contingent travel over from LA to the Vegas Super Chevy Show later this spring,” said Gus Stewart, Marketing Director for Original Parts Group.

Other planned functions throughout the season include a cruise from RK Motors in Charlotte, NC to Rockingham Dragway, and from Ron Craft Chevrolet in Baytown, Tx to Royal Purple Raceway at Houston. The Texas Motorplex will announce its cruise host sponsor and route next week, and other cruises in Denver, Spokane, and Phoenix will be announced throughout the season.

Editor of Super Chevy magazine, Jim Campisano, has been very involved with the series and is a big proponent of the event cruises.

“We are seeing more involvement in the series overall, and watching it grow back to the levels of participation in the 80s and 90s because the new ownership group is listening to our readers and their own followers,” Campisano said. “My staff and I will be participating in all of the cruises this year, taking photos, blogging, and providing video coverage along the way. We can’t wait for the season to get started.”
