Sam Andreacchi places fifth in PMRA Pro Modified series after a year's absence

TORONTO, ONTARIO (OCTOBER 11, 2010) - After a year away from the Pro Modified Racing Association, Sam Andreacchi returned in 2010 and made his mark, finishing fifth in the PMRA Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport.
"We had a great season," said Andreacchi. "We stayed healthy and are pleased with the year."
The driver of the Andreacchi Motorsports 1969 Chevy Nova, owned by Andreacchi and Domenic Calabria, is powered by a 526-cubic inch Al Billes Racing Brad Anderson supercharged engine.
Andreacchi's season was highlighted with a victory in the fourth round of PMRA action during the Stratford Spectacular Hot Summer Nationals at the Grand Bend Motorplex. He also qualified well for most of the races, and was a quarter-finalist in several of them, totaling 1223 points for fifth in the 26-car field at year's end.
"I want to thank Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc. and the rest of my sponsors," noted Andreacchi. "Without them none of this would be possible."
Along with Wolf Electric, the team is sponsored by Kidd Fuels Corp., Sylvania, IED (Independent Electrical Distributors), Thomas & Betts, Legrand Canada Inc., Eaton, Nuteck Mechanical, Manning Electric Co. Ltd., Eurotech Electric Limited, Ember Electric Ltd., Dial Auto Parts, 3M Signs, Ideal Quilting Limited, ARA Electrical Contractors, Halling Electrical & Mechanical, Diagnostic Automotive, Core Insurance, Al Billes and Skull Motorsports.
Beside crew members Rick Defrancesco and Domenic Calabria, Andreacchi wanted to thank Paulo DeLamonte and Ralph Andreacchi for their work.
He also wanted to thank his family, wife Franca, son Vincent and daughter Alessandra, and was quick to point out the efforts put forth this year by 17-year old Vincent, who is crew chief for the team.
"He made the car go down the track," Andreacchi said. "He picked up on many things Paulo and Ralph showed him. He caught on right away."
Andreacchi said he plans to return to PMRA competition next year. Aside from taking some weight out of the body of his Pro Modified, he is considering options at present for the engine and powertrain of the car.
The PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series Championship Point Award Series winners will be honored at the "Night of Champions" on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at The Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
