The Quick 32 Sportsman Series top five for 2010 - Buddy Forrest - Third Place

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK (October 23, 2010) – Placing third with 1155 points in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts is the Top Dragster team of Morgan Forrest Racing, and driver Buddy Forrest said he was pleased with the team's showing in the  Championship Point Award Series Standings of 2010.
"We had a good year," said the Rochester, New York racer, who is teamed with Doug Morgan, co-owner and crew chief of the team. "We started slow, but after the second race we rebuilt the motor in the car, and I tried to do a good job on the tree, and it paid off."
The team qualified for all Quick 32 Sportsman Series events, and recorded two semi-final round finishes, a first-round finish, a runner-up finish, and topped off their season with a victory during the Canadian Nitro Nationals at Toronto Motorsports Park in July.
Powered by a 638-cubic inch Chevrolet engine, Forrest said he never had to use the available nitrous assist on the car in 2010, but added that he believes the power-boosting system may be necessary in 2011 with increased competition.
Behind the big Chevy in the 2000 Spitzer dragster is a Powerglide transmission, and Forrest said there will be no big changes to the car for next season.
"Next year we may have to use the nitrous, we may have to strap on the bottle," he said. "And we'll freshen up the car, but we have no big changes planned."
Forrest teamed up with Morgan 15 years ago, starting with a 1969 Camaro. In 2000 Forrest went to the Frank Hawley Drag Racing School and the team bought the Spitzer, racing it in the IHRA's Quick Rod division.
It wasn't long after that they decided they wanted to go faster, and built up the car to Top Dragster specifications.
The team's roles were set out from the beginning of its relationship.
"We're both gearheads," noted Forrest. "Doug has always worked on the cars, and I ended up doing all the driving."
Assisting with the team is Forrest's father Allen, and brother Chad, along with crew chief Morgan. Forrest also wanted to thank the help from his wife Jeannette and his children and Doug Morgan is very appreciative of the support of his wife Susan.
Forrest was quick to pay tribute to Precise Tool and Manufacturing Inc., a large engineering and manufacturing facility in Rochester, New York who has sponsored the team in its racing.
The team will return to the Quick 32 Sportsman Series for 2011.
"We're planning on coming back next year," he said. "The Quick 32 Sportsman Series is perfect for us. The races are nice and close, and it fits our schedule. The series also has good people both on and off the track."
The PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series Championship Point Award Series winners will be honored at the "Night of Champions" on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at The Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
