Elma, NY– With the help of Ford Racing and Dan Page Race Cars, Mike Janis will debut his new Eaton Aeroquip backed 2011 Ford Mustang at the 41st annual NHRA SuperNationals in Englishtown, NJ.
The new scheme for the team came about due to a contest run by Mike Janis Racing asking fans to design their new Mustang. With over 120 entries from around the globe, Peter Walters of the United Kingdom took home the grand prize with his rendering.
The team's staff graphic designer, Justin Spencer of Competition Designs tweaked Walters' design and then proceeded to design a completely new image for the team.
"Thank God for Justin," said Mike Janis Racing's PR man Rob Kozak. "Justin has put a ton of time and effort into this for us. His contributions to this team are above and beyond what anyone could imagine."
The complete transformation of the team's appearance will not be complete until the NHRA GSA series reaches Norwalk in two weeks. The team will feature new uniforms, a new driver suit and new graphics for the team hauler.
"Mike, the crew, and all the guys at Jan-Cen have worked tirelessly to make sure this car gets to Englishtown, so a few things that didn't get changed over to the new scheme had to be put on the back burner till Englishtown is over," said Kozak.
The paint on the new Mustang was applied by Scott Jahren of SJ paint in Tonawanda, NY. Graphics were designed by Justin Spencer of Competition Designs and applied by John Barsh of Precision Graphics.
Janis' new Mustang features a unique engine combination designed in house at Jan-Cen Motorsports in Elma, NY. The engine block, designed by Janis, is made from a solid billet of aluminum.
Pro Modifieds will receive two qualifiers on Friday; one at 2:30 PM and another at 5:30 PM. Qualifying will resume Saturday with the final attempt to crack the 16 car field set for 2:00 PM.
The first round of eliminations is scheduled for 5:00 PM Saturday with the Victors moving on to continue final eliminations on Sunday.
