Top Dragsters lead Top Sportsman going into next Quick 32 Sportsman Series race

Top Dragsters have 5-2 advantage for upcoming Grand Bend Motorplex event
CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 17, 2010)  – Competition in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts offers a diverse range of cars and powerplants, but all cars must either race in the Top Dragster class or the Top Sportsman class.
For each Quick 32 Sportsman Series event, all the Top Dragsters (T/D) and all the Top Sportsman (T/S) cars race among themselves, and then the winning entry of each class is pitted together for an overall winner.
And to date, the Top Dragster class has the nod, with five victories in seven races to date.
Winning the first race in the series was T.J. Schippling of Shakespeare, Ontario with his dragster during the opening round at Cayuga in 2009.
Buffalo's Jim Rubino won the next round, this time at the Grand Bend Motorplex, in his T/D, and another New Yorker, Michael Kalin of Youngstown, took his T/D to victory at the next event, also at Grand Bend.
But after that Dan Aitken and his Mustang won the first race for the T/S side. Aitken, of Belle River, Ontario, took the overall win at Grand Bend.
And to show there was no fluke, Darryl McMillan soldiered on to a win at the next event, with the Corvette driver from Goderich, Ontario taking the second T/S win in a row.
For the sixth and final race of 2009, Buddy Forrest of Rochester, NY made it four for the T/D side with a season-closing win at TMP's Cayuga Dragway.
Ironically, with a 4-2 margin in the series' first year, a Top Dragster team did not win the 2009 championship. In fact, Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ontario, did not win any of the six events, but he qualified well with his Dodge Stratus Top Sportsman entry and went enough rounds to win the Championship Point Award Series title.
With one race of 2010 finished, the Top Dragster class has taken the lead, as Paulo Giust of Osgoode, Ontario won the Cayuga opener with his dragster.
The next event in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts will be the RPM Magazine Family PowerFest & Media Weekend June 25-27 at the Grand Bend Motorplex, and the Top Sportsman teams will get a chance to even up the score.
At the RPM Magazine Family PowerFest & Media Weekend three qualifying sessions will take place Saturday, June 26 and eliminations are scheduled to begin Sunday, June 27.
