New ride for Dan Flanigan in upcoming Quick 32 Sportsman Series

Buffalo, New York team to debut Firebird Top Sportsman car for 2010 season

BUFFALO, NEW YORK (March 10, 2010) – Dan Flanigan will be returning to the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts with a new car for the 2010 season.
The native New Yorker will also be returning with renewed interest for the second season of this popular drag racing series.
“I think it’s a fantastic series,” Flanigan noted. “I was a bit of a rebel at first, but after going to two events I loved it. And the proof of this is we’re back full time again this year.”
Flanigan will debut his new Flanigan Racing Team 2002 Firebird Top Sportsman car in the series, complete with a fresh 540-cubic inch big block, courtesy of Mike and Joe Janis at Jan-Cen Racing Engines in Elma, New York.
The Vito Antonicelli Race Cars chassis entry also features a new Top Sportsman Powerglide from Competition Transmissions, and employs a Ron’s Alcohol fuel system with a Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS). Scott Jahren Paint will apply the “Dan The Sign Man” illustration of the NOCO ENERGY CORP colors.
Following in the foot steps of his brothers Jim and John, Dan started racing with a 1975 Nova which crew member Tom Coonly now runs in TNT Hot Rod Series. He recently parked his 1981 Chop Top Camaro which he competed with for five years.
“I’ve been racing about 25 years,” he noted. “My two older brothers, Jim and John, were both racers and they got me started. And we’re still racing after all these years.”
Both Jim and John Flanigan also crew on the team and compete at various events with their own Top Dragsters. Crew chief for the team is Sam Christian, another racer from Western New York, and fellow Quick 32 Sportsman Series regular in Top Dragster. Sam completed the car at his SC Racework’s shop in Kenmore, New York, and will make the tuning calls. Dan’s biggest fans are his wife Mary Lisa and daughters Molly and Audrey.
Flanigan is pleased to have the support of NOCO Energy Corporation, a fuel, lubricant, and retail outlet company headquartered in Tonawanda, New York, and Etobicoke, Ontario, where he is employed as an energy consultant.
“I want to thank Jim Newman and Mike Newman (NOCO President and Executive Vice-President, respectively) for their support. This is our fifth season together and it’s a perfect fit for our marketing plans in Western New York and NOCO Lubricants in Southern Ontario. Their involvement is appreciated.”
Flanigan will be ready with his new Firebird when the season opener gets underway May 21-23 on the Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.
