(3-16-2010) Laverock, PA – Derrick Townes took delivery of his newly painted 68’ Camaro from Performance Autocrafters this week. This Vanishing Point built pro mod raced 2009 with the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod Association and after a full year under his belt he is ready to take it up a notch and compete for a championship within the series.
In his first year Derrick ended the season ranked #5 in points in the Extreme Blower/Turbo class. His best elapsed time to date is 6.32 seconds @ 228 mph in the quarter mile, and as he continues to learn and grow, he expects performance to improve as well as his driving and tuning abilities.
After a beautiful paint job was applied by Performance Autocrafters, the car was sent to KK Precision for new wheelie bars and updates for the NHRA. The car was then delivered to the DT Motorsports shop for the just freshened blown 526 CI BAE to be dropped back into the car and go testing in preparation for the NEOPM season opener May 1st at Virginia Motorsports Park.
“DT Motorsports is looking forward to racing the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod quarter mile series. We had a lot of fun competing there last year, and with 10 races for 2010, we are going to get ready for the challenge and make a run for the championship. There are many great teams that race the NEOPMA series and there will be many fast cars out there, so the DT Motorsports Team will have to step it up to be competitive”, says Derrick Townes.
