As is tradition Beaver Bob always goes all out for the Memorial Day Weekend. Friday night started the weekend with Bob Motz’s Kenworth. Saturday The GLNFCC was there with 8 of their nostalgia funny cars. The line up gave the GLNFCC a chance to pair up some East Coast funny cars that don’t get much of a chance to square up with some of the OH & PA regulars.

First round opened up with The Blown Money 69 Nova taking on The Rollin' Stoned Cuda driven by Bob Rosetty. Both cars did a killer burnout. Bob was out first, actually capturing the R.T. Award on this run. But it went bad shortly after that. Bob was in the right lane and took a hard left forcing Shaun in The Nova to lift. Bob got the Cuda back in his lane, but not after taking out a block.

Second pair was the Sharky's Machine Omni taking on The Sweetman Brothers Citation. The Omni had some fresh fiberglass repairs as Lance was cone hunting himself two weeks ago at Kil-Kare Dragway in Xenia, OH. The Sweetmans had not ran much last year so they were eager to get back on the track. They left all most even but the Citation cross the finish line first with a 7.33/180 to 7.69/174.

Third pair was another car that had been put away for awhile. Rick Stambaugh who has driven funny cars since the 70’s has ran his New Generation 74 Corvette with his son Matt and daughter Robin. This car has a story to it. The Body is Ezra Boggs Moby Dick body and the chassis is a Custom Body Chassis. Rick is tuning now and Matt is doing the driving. They were pitted up against The Excalibur Corvette. Both of these cars are clutch cars and it was great to hear them as they both staged pulling about 7,000 RPMS. The New Generation Corvette took the lead and never looked back with a 7.35/192 to a 8.53/162.

Last pair was the burnout king John DeCort in The Old & Fuelish Corvette taking on The Tweety's Rat Vega driven by Bob Toth with guest crew chief Lou Sgro. Both cars where a little late off the line with the Vega taking the win at 7.42/181 to Johns 7.72/173.

Second round started with The Excalibur Corvette taking on The Blown Money Nova. The Corvette redlite and then right at the hit the Nova lost power. The Nova broke a throttle cable.

Second pair pitted the burnout kings from the first round. The Old & Fuelish Corvette against The Rollin Stone Cuda. Both cars did their usual smokey burnout. It took awhile for the smoke to clear before you could see the cars. The Corvette pulled off the win when the Cuda got a little sideways and had to let off.

Winner
Bob Rosetty
Driver of
Rollin' Stoned
Third pair was the Tweety's Rat taking on The Sharky's machine Omni. Both cars seem to be ready for one another as they did great burnouts and talked to one another through some dry hops. It turns out the Rat must have been a little bit afraid of The Shark as he left on him and stayed out in front.

Last pair was the two fastest from the first round. That was Sweetman Brothers Citation taking on The New Generation Corvette. Again we had two clutch cars running each other, both did killer burnouts and some old style dry hops. After a year off Drew was not rusty at all pulling a .044 light. The Citation stayed in front taking the win with a 7.17/185 to The Corvette’s 7.29/192.

The GLNFCC put on one great show and Beaver Bob’s team gave us a great racetrack. If you have never been to Beaver Springs you must go. Beaver Bob knows how to treat the spectators.

Thanks again to Good Vibrations for Sponsoring The Reaction Time Award which was won by Bob Rosetty in the Rollin' Stoned Cuda. Next Stop Thompson Raceway Park on June 5th.
