MARTIN’S STREAK ENDS WITH SEMI-FINAL SHOWING IN FONTANA

Fontana, Calif. – Well, you can’t win them all.

After reaching four consecutive final rounds in NHRA Heritage Series 7.0 Pro competition and a two-race wins in a row, Will Martin and his Jam-Air Motorsports / MULTISTACK / PROLONG Blown Alcohol Funny Car team leave the second race of 2010 with their heads held high after a semi-final finish at the NHRA Heritage Series event contested at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif. this past weekend.

Martin qualified the MULTISTACK / PROLONG Flopper in the 8th qualified position at his home track and entered eliminations with all intentions of extending his 8-round win streak against a very tough field of 32 of the best 7.0 Pro cars in the country. During his first round match-up, Martin drew a single when his opponent, Mike Cross was unable to make the call. His 7.04 second elapsed time served as a good baseline for a second round race.

Once again, a bit of luck prevailed as Martin’s opponent Scott Christlieb broke on the burnout and provided yet another single. He improved his elapsed time to a 7.018 and the team was confident they would match up well against San Diego, Calif.’s Mike Smith in the semi-finals. Unfortunately for the San Dimas, Calif. based team, the luck used up in the first two rounds turned around quickly as Smith captured a starting line advantage then ran a 7.04 second elapsed time to beat Martin’s off-pace 7.06 ET, ending his win streak at 10 rounds.

“Everything that could go wrong did go wrong in that semi-final race,” noted Martin, the defending NHRA Heritage Series 7.0 Pro champion. “I had some issues staging the car, and then the car lost the blower belt right before the stripe. It’s no excuse because Smith is one of the best out there and simply beat us. I’d like to congratulate him and his team on not only his win over our team but his event win this weekend. We’ll do some testing in a few weeks before our next race in Las Vegas. We hope to start a new win streak for our marketing partners at MULTISTACK and Prolong Super Lubricants.”

Martin and his team are very fortunate to have the support of several outstanding marketing partners such as MULTISTACK (http://www.multistack.com/) and Prolong Super Lubricants (http://www.prolong.com/). “Without the support from these outstanding companies, there is no way we could be out here living the dream of racing our Jam-Air Mtorsports Funny Car,” noted Martin. “We are leaving this event with the points lead and we are very excited for our next racing opportunity in Las Vegas.”
