THE HEARTBEAT OF AMERICA CONTINUES

YORK, PA -  The Heartbeat of America continues at the 9th Annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion to be presented at the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds on July 9-10th.  Only four months until the growling engines rumble into place at the nation's largest independent musclecar and nostalgia drag racing show in the country featuring the annual reunion for the Legends of Drag Racing and the annual reunion for the former York US 30 Dragway.

The show will feature a Salute to Chevrolet and a Tribute to Junior Stock with some of the nation's legends in the sport in attendance, Bill"Grumpy" Jenkins, Ed Hedrick, Larry Lombardo, Wally Bell, Jere Stahl, Bruce Larson and Wally Booth who also shared time with AMC, plus a whole host of other legends too numerous to mention at this time.

A highlight of the show will be a FREE model building table for children ages 12 and under auspices of the Central Pennsylvania Modelers Association. Models are provided to all entrants to be built and taken home with the aid of their parents.  The models are 1:25 scale snap-it models with build it times Friday 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  All models are through the courtesy of the CPMA.

The Auto Locator a publication of Engle Publishing, Inc. has joined Musclecar Madness as a sponsor for 2010. The magazine is available every Friday at Central Penna. automotive and convenience stores.  Auto Locator will have a booth at the 9th Annual show.

The 2010 Legion of Honor awards will be presented at the show on Friday at 6 p.m.  The recipients will receive an individual award and their names will be placed upon a perpetual award on display at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing, York Springs, PA in perpetuity.  This years  recipients will be George Nye, Palmyra, PA; Dave Heisey, Myerstown, PA; James Kerr, Holland, PA; Carol "Bunny" Burkett, Spottsylvania, VA; Bill Lynch, Huntington Station, NY; Fred Borcherdt, Newark, DE; Larry Lombardo, Bernville, PA; Alan Carpenter, Stuart, FL; Bruce and Joan Mehlenbacher, Cayuga, Ontario, Canada (posthumous), Dom Rinaldi, Skowhegan, ME; Reinford Bros., Boyertown, PA, Chick DeNinno, Lottsburg, VA and Bob Harrop, Laurel Spring, NJ.  The elite group will be recognized for their contributions to the sport and the industry for many years.

The show kicks off a tremendous nostalgia weekend with the annual reunion, the Cruisin' Into Summer cruise-in on Friday and Saturday hosted by the Cruisin' Columbia staff on the plaza next to Memorial Hall West. Hours are Friday 1 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The charity of choice is the York County SPCA with proceeds from special drawings, best of show voting canisters and a memorabilia auction at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday all supporting the SPCA. Contributions attributed to the SPCA from the show are in excess of $35,000.

The show opens on Friday, July 9th at 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

The nostalgia weekend concludes on Sunday, July 11th with the presentation of the 7th Annual York Nostalgia Nationals at Beaver Springs Dragway beginning at 8 a.m.
