Virginia Motorsports Park adds Chevy Extreme Nitro for Super Chevy Show event

VIRGINIA MOTORSPORTS PARK SET TO HOST THE 15TH EDITION OF THE SUPER CHEVY SHOW; SWAP MEET SPOTS GO ON SALE MARCH 16

KANSAS CITY (Feb. 24, 2010) – As if the 30th anniversary season of the Super Chevy Show series isn't exciting enough, Virginia Motorsports Park is going to feature a new nitromethane-burning class during its show in 2010.

Virginia Motorsports Park will play host to a Super Chevy Show for the 15th time April 16-18 in Petersburg, Virginia. It will be the second of 10 national events on the Super Chevy Show schedule in 2010.

The track's newest category – the Chevy Extreme Nitro class – will be an eight-car shootout of nitro-burning Chevy vehicles.

Virginia Motorsports Park's Bryan Pierce said he thinks the Chevy Extreme Nitro class will quickly become a fan favorite.

"We have such a rich history with the Super Chevy Show and we can't think of a better way of adding even more entertainment to the event than by adding nitro-burning hot rods," Pierce said. "You won't have to be a die-hard Chevy fan to love this racing class, but we know the loyal Chevy fans will really enjoy the thundering speed the category will add to the weekend."

Pierce said the track also wanted to help make the swap meet a more enjoyable experience for the participants. For the first time, swap meet participants will be able to reserve their spot online in advance.

"Participants can go online, pick out a space, purchase it and know exactly where they are going to be without having to get here real early in the morning during the Super Chevy Show weekend," Pierce said. "We worked with participants and tried to figure out a way to make the weekend even better for them and this was one of the biggest requests."

Participants can go online at www.virginiamotorsports.com starting at 8 p.m. (EST) on March 16 to reserve a Swap Meet spot.

"We are thrilled about being able to celebrate the 30th year of Super Chevy Show by hosting an event here for the 15th time and we think this will be our best event yet," Pierce said. "Our fans, vendors, racers, sponsors and participants are all excited about the April event and how the new owners of the Super Chevy Show have worked with everyone to figure out how to make the series even better."
