AHRA Announces Jr. Dragster Championship in October 2010

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (February 24, 2010) - Emphasizing their commitment to building a strong Jr. Drag Racing program, the AHRA announced today the AHRA Jr. Dragster Championships to be held October 2, 2010 at Desert Thunder Raceway in Midland, Texas.

The Jr. Dragster Championships will feature a limited open-entry, pre- registration format in multiple classes. Participation details will be released in the near future according to AHRA CEO Troy Moe.

"Jr. Dragsters are the seed of all drag racing and the life-blood of our Sportsman programs," Moe said. "Our program is focused on developing safe racing habits for the drivers as well as providing a safe, wholesome, family-friendly environment for the participants.

"We're strongly committed to our Juniors, and are working to provide large incentives and awards for the drivers as well," he said.

Rules and car specifications can be found on the AHRA website at www.AHRAdragracing.com. Additional classes are being added to accommodate as many racers as possible, Moe said.

The AHRA is a drag racing membership organization founded in 1956 to sanction racetracks and promote drag racing events throughout the United States and Canada. The company is headquartered in Spokane Valley, Wash., and has a divisional office in Panama City, Fla. The 2010 schedule is highlighted by several drag racing events including: the Reunion Tour, the U.S. Sportsmen Series, the Canadian Sportsmen Tour, and the AHRA U.S. Funny Car Championships.
