NORWALK, Ohio (January 6, 2011) – In 2010 the Nitro Jam series not only took the drag racing world by storm, but it established itself as the hip place to race for nostalgia nitro funny cars.
In 2011, Nitro Jam will take that fact one step further.
With an incredibly talented lineup of Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars making headlines across the nation last season, Nitro Jam will take its funny car competition to another level this year with several new faces to compliment the already talent-laden list of drivers currently making up the tour.
And headlining the list of new faces in 2011 is three-time IHRA Top Fuel champion Paul Romine. Known around the country as one of the best in the sport today, Romine will join the Nitro Jam tour at the season opener in West Palm Beach and may participate in more events down the road. But for now, the event at Palm Beach International Raceway is shaping up to be one of the biggest of the year with one of the boldest lineups of Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars seen all season.
“The crew and I are looking forward to returning to IHRA and the trip to Florida when it is cold here in the Midwest,” Romine said. “I won three World Championships in IHRA Top Fuel and I look forward to racing with the IHRA folks again. I’ll also get to race against some guys that we don’t get to race that often such as Steve Nichols and Peter Gallen.”
Romine, who has also accumulated multiple wins and a championship behind the wheel of the “Man-O-War” Mustang, will put his talents to the test against defending Nitro Jam champion Steve Nichols and the winningest driver of 2010 Peter Gallen. The rest of the roster includes several other big winners from last season including newcomer “Mr. Explosive” Mark Sanders, Greg Jacobsmeyer, Mike McIntire, Richard Hartman and more.
With success following him in nearly everything he has done, Romine will bring the experience of a champion to the tour in 2011 against a talented lineup of drivers eager to match wits with the three-time champion. And headlining that group is the pair of Nichols and Gallen.
Gallen and Nichols ran away with the championship in 2010 and racked up an impressive 10 wins and 18 finals in 10 races. The duo rarely lost to anyone except each other and both are thrilled to compete against Romine and the rest of the Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car field.
In addition to his three championships, Romine is also sixth on the all-time IHRA Top Fuel list with 10 wins and 23 final rounds. He also has a championship behind the wheel of his funny car.
The huge event will kick off another highly anticipated year of Nitro Jam racing, especially in the new class which has become the darling of the Nitro Jam tour. Don’t miss a minute of the action January 28-29 at Palm Beach International Raceway.
