TERRY, MS (January 25, 2011) – Bankston Boyz Racing has been busier than ever during the off-season and that leaves the team more excited than ever for the 2011 American Drag Racing League (ADRL) season.
They are thrilled to announce the addition of David Janes to the team, as well as the debut of a new Pro Nitrous car for Bankston Racing veteran Stan Allen.
Janes, a longtime standout both as a chassis builder and a driver, will drive the '68 Speedtech Camaro Allen drove to a top-8 finish in PN a year ago. Allen, meanwhile will now be behind the wheel of a brand-new lightweight '69 Camaro, courtesy of David Janes Race Cars. That car is scheduled to go into the paint shop this week.
"The team's goal is to have both cars in the "Battle for the Belts" in 2011 with both competing for a World Championship," team owner Michael Bankston said. "Simply put, I want to win and I feel that I have tremendously increased our team's odds with the addition of David Janes and I can't wait to get testing!"
Janes brings a talented and proven track record in all facets of the racing game. He's recorded two career ADRL wins and has enjoyed plenty of racing success in the Extreme 10.5 class while also becoming a top chassis builder.
His addition was met with high praise throughout the team.
"I eagerly anticipate his arrival as a teammate in hopes of witnessing the competitive fierceness he will bring to the game," team spokesman Mark Teague said. "I have never personally witnessed anyone who fit into our scheme better than David Janes."
Janes noted the top-shelf people involved with Bankston Racing as a primary reason for joining the team.
He also holds Allen in high regard and Janes hopes he can push Allen to even greater heights in the highly-competitive Pro Nitrous field. Janes is also excited about racing a full ADRL schedule in 2011 in PN, but his top goal is helping Allen to the top.
"I told Mike my priority is that Stan Allen is Bankston Boyz Racing's No. 1 driver and that I wanted it understood that his car is my focus," Janes said. "I want to get Stan even more competitive, and if that means testing set-ups on my car and then transferring it to Stan's, then that is what will happen.
"There is a lot of work to do before March and, as of now, I want to get us a good baseline on this '69 Camaro. I just want to do everything possible to move Stan forward in his professional career."
Both cars will be equipped with 5.3 bore spaced Reher-Morrison motors and Allen is anxious to test his new ultra-light '69 Camaro in the coming weeks.
The Pro Nitrous standout has been impressed with how the partnership with Janes has worked from the start, leaving him with big aspirations for the 2011 ADRL season, which starts March 25-26 at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas.
"We want to win a Pro Nitrous Championship. I'm a competitor and I'm not taking off work, sometimes for a week at a time, just to qualify in the middle of the pack," Allen said. "I want to win. We have the right people in place to be successful along with the best equipment on the market.
"I am confident that with the addition of David that Bankston Boyz Racing will put forth their best effort yet."
Teague also thinks the teamwork Allen and Janes have already displayed will pay big dividends throughout the 2011 season.
"Never in the six years that I have been working with Bankston Boyz Racing have I witnessed so much focus on team," Teague said. "All I heard from (David and Stan) was team."
Bankston Boyz Racing is currently sponsored by the following: Red Line Oil, Jesel, Ross Pistons, Goodyear, Mississippi Foundation Repair, TeaCo Geophysical and Vicci Custom Apparel.
