Palm Beach kicks off 2011 racing season with Palm Beach Nitro Jam

Five nitro classes join world’s fastest monster truck in biggest Nitro Jam of the season

JUPITER, Fla. (January 11, 2011) – While most major motorsports brands are still simply dreaming of hitting the track this offseason, Nitro Jam is gearing up for its season debut the weekend of January 28-29 at Palm Beach International Raceway in West Palm Beach making it the first major motorsports event of the 2011 racing season.

After an event that broke both Nitro Jam and Palm Beach attendance records in 2010, Nitro Jam returns to the fastest track in Florida with an incredible lineup that includes five nitro classes plus the debut of the world’s fastest monster truck versus the world’s fastest jet truck in a match race unlike any other. Add in Nitro Jam’s FanFest spectacular and the lowest prices in the industry and the Palm Beach Nitro Jam promises to be the biggest show of the year when it returns to south Florida January 28-29.

“There are a lot of big things planned for the upcoming season that I think is going to take Nitro Jam to a whole new level,” said IHRA President Aaron Polburn. “Last year was a work in progress as we got the new format off the ground and running. Now, with a year under our belt, we are able to experiment with a few more show elements including a few more classes and extras that are intended to create a better experience for the fans.”

The two-night event will feature the world’s fastest race machines in Top Fuel, along with a championship lineup of Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars and the Nitro Jam debut of the Nitro Harley and out-of-control Nostalgia Fuel Altered classes. Add in a match race between the world’s fastest monster truck “Maximum Overkill” and the 30,000 horsepower jet semi known as the Super Shockwave and a pair of 300 mile per hour jet dragsters and this year’s Palm Beach Nitro Jam promises to be even bigger and bolder than last year’s record-breaking event.

And it all gets underway in late January at Palm Beach International Raceway.

PBIR is widely considered the birthplace of the new Nitro Jam format as thousands flocked to see the new-look series and enjoy an incredible night of racing last season at one of the nation’s premier facilities. The inaugural Palm Beach Nitro Jam produced quality racing, fast times and even played a major role in the final championship battle as all three professional champions from this past season began the year with a victory at the south Florida track.

And when Nitro Jam rolls back into Florida the weekend of January 28-29, it will be bringing with it more excitement and more thrills than ever before. In addition to the three nitro classes that made passes last year, the Palm Beach Nitro Jam will also feature the debut of two new nitro classes and a host of other changes. With the addition of the two new classes, fans at PBIR will witness something that can’t be seen anywhere else in the country – five different nitro classes and over two dozen different flame-throwing, nitro-powered machines.

In addition to an abundance of classes, fans at PBIR should also be on the lookout for record times as one of the fastest tracks in the country hosts five of the fastest nitro classes in existence. Just this month, at a test session at the track featuring 2008 Nitro Jam Top Fuel champion Spencer Massey, the young pilot guided his Top Fuel machine to a pass of 3.79 seconds at over 324 miles per hour in just 1,000 feet. When Nitro Jam comes to town, running the drag racing standard of a full quarter-mile, who knows what speeds can be achieved when the fastest machines on earth hit the track.

Finally, race fans at the Palm Beach Nitro Jam will witness the most talented lineup of drivers ever assembled for the Nitro Jam series including the battle of the world champions in Top Fuel between Bruce Litton and Bobby Lagana Jr., an incredible lineup of Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars that includes three-time Top Fuel champion Paul Romine, the most exciting man in motorsports “Mr. Explosive” Mark Sanders and defending champion Steve Nichols and the battle of the U.S. versus the U.K. as England-native Mike Manners battles south Florida’s own Bill Evans and the “Black Pearl” crew for Pro Fuel supremacy.

The Palm Beach Nitro Jam will get underway on Friday, January 28 beginning at 5:30 p.m. with FanFest followed by the first of two rounds of Nitro Jam at 7 p.m. On Saturday, January 29 FanFest will kick off the festivities at 4:30 p.m. with two rounds of Nitro Jam to follow beginning at 6 p.m. Both shows will feature two rounds of racing with a winner crowned each night.

Tickets start at just $25 when purchased in advance and can be found online at www.nitrojam.com. Don’t miss a minute of the action when the world’s fastest show comes to south Florida January 28-29 at Palm Beach International Raceway.
