Garlits Headlines Goodguys 9th Blue Suede Cruise
Norwalk, OH - Fans attending the 9th edition of the Goodguys Blue Suede Cruise, this weekend at Summit Motorsports Park will have a chance to mingle with drag racing royalty as “Big Daddy” Don Garlits headlines the event for the first time in its 9 year history. Garlits will sign autographs, offer merchandise at his souvenir trailer and perform exhibition burnouts behind the wheel of one of his vintage “Swamp Rat” dragsters throughout the weekend.
The Blue Suede Cruise transforms Summit Motorsports Park into hot rod heaven, with two events in one! A giant car show featuring 2,000 hot rods, customs and classic cars through 1972 vintage will fill the west side of the track while hundreds of vintage drag racers will fill the east side pits and drag strip. Event features include a giant car show, a full scale vintage drag race presented by Snap On with eleven eliminator classes, an automotive swap meet, vendor midway and Don Garlits!
Headlining the Snap On Tolls racing competition will be Nostalgia Top Fuel and Funny Car. Full fields are expected in both nitro divisions led by defending event champion Randy Bridges (Top Fuel) and 2008 winner Steve Nichols in the Mill Road Boys ’70 Camaro (Nostalgia Funny Car). NHRA Division 1 alcohol funny car racer Tony Bartone will make his Goodguys Nostalgia Top Fuel debut in a gorgeous hemi powered dragster tuned by Steve Boggs.
Joining the nitro cars is a full complement of eliminator classes including Pro Comp I & II, B/GAS, Nostalgia Comp, Nostalgia Gas, Hot Rod Eliminator as well as exhibition runs by the Geezer Gassers and Nostalgia Super Stockers as well as Nostalgia Pro Stockers!
Event hours are 8am to 5pm both Friday and Saturday and 8am to 3pm Sunday. General admission is $20 per day, kids 7-12 $6. A three day weekend pass is $55.
