RACING UNDERWAY FOR NHRA SOUTHEAST DIVISION SUMMIT RACING SERIES FINALS

CECIL, Ga. (Oct. 1, 2009) – The NHRA Southeast Division Summit Racing Series Finals kicked off today at South Georgia Motorsports Park with more than 500 racers representing 17 NHRA Member Tracks. Racers in Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, and Pro Bike took their initial shot at the quarter mile during time trail sessions designed to fine tune their racing vehicles according to track and weather conditions. Competitors are vying for individual and team honors along with more than $20,000 in purse and contingency awards with the team from Bradenton Motorsports Park looking to defend their Team Championship from last year.

Friday’s action will include final time trials along with the Race of Champions, a race within a race where the top points-earning drivers from each track square off in head-to-head competition.

Eliminations are scheduled for Saturday with the four class winners advancing to the NHRA AAA Finals in Pomona, Calif., and the chance to compete against the winner’s from NHRA's other six divisions for the national championship.

Gates at South Georgia Motorsports Park open at 8 a.m. each day with racing beginning at 9 a.m. South Georgia Motorsports Park is located 12 miles north of Valdosta, Ga.
