CLARKSTON, MICHIGAN (October 12, 2009) – Although he made a couple of appearances in 2008, Jason Kalso considers 2009 his rookie year with the Pro Modified Racing Association.
And the driver of the Kalso Motorsports 1971 Plymouth Barracuda Pro Modified placed fifth in the PMRA Championship Point Award Series for the 2009 season.
“We were very pleased with our team,” said Kalso, who raced at all six events in the season. “Everybody came through.”
The team consisted of Jason, his wife Stacy, his parents Terry and Deb Kalso, along with Small Paul Miller and Mark Roberts. Based out of central Michigan, the bright yellow G-Force Race Cars Cuda was a crowd-pleasing sight, and Kalso mentioned he is looking for an improved season in 2010.
“Every day was a learning curve,” he explained. “We need to know the car better. That’s what bit us a few times.”
He added the team will spend the off-season working on the car, with the main emphasis on shedding some weight from the car body, a car that the team calls “Sherman” in reference to the heavy Sherman tank.
The car is powered by a Mike Stawicki-prepared 525-cubic inch billet Chevrolet, with a Kobelco supercharger, DMPE fuel system, and powered through a Lenco three-speed transmission.
Kalso was also thankful for the help of G-Force’s Jim Salemi, who guided the team through their learning curve.

“Jim builds a great car,” he said. “Not only has that been a big bonus, but him helping us has been a big bonus. His help has been pivotal for us.”
The PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series Championship Point Award Series winners will be honored at the Champions Banquet on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at The Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel in the Oak Room in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
