Most Dominant Woman in Racing Coming to Firebird this February

When it Comes to Dominant Women in Racing, Ashley Force Hood Ranks Second to None!

GILA RIVER INDIAN COMMUNITY - Jan. 19, 2010 - To the casual racing fan, it might seem to be a no-brainer. Clearly the most dominant woman in auto racing today would have to be Danica Patrick, right? After all, she stole all the headlines this fall with the "Will she/won't she" coverage regarding her possible switch from the IZOD Indy Car Series to NASCAR.

Not to mention Patrick is seemingly everywhere. A quick web search reveals glamorous shots from provocative photo shoots and her equally provocative commercials for a locally-based Internet provider!

But when it comes to actual success on the track, casual racing fans would be wrong in choosing Patrick! Instead, the statistics prove that second generation superstar Ashley Force Hood has set the standard for successful women in racing. Force Hood looks to continue her success in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Full Throttle Drag Racing Series during the 2010 NHRA Arizona Nationals, scheduled from Feb. 19-21 at Firebird International Raceway, 20,000 Maricopa Road.

Just consider the following:

During her four-year career, Force Hood has collected eight career wins in NHRA, including three wins in the Funny Car Division. Patrick has raced to a single major win.

Force Hood became the first female in NHRA history to lead the Funny Car point standings following her final round appearance in Las Vegas in April 2008. In 2009, she finished second in the points chase, a mere 66 points behind leader Robert Hight. Patrick finished a distant fifth last year in the IZOD Indy Car Series.

Force Hood became the first female to win the prestigious Mac Tools U.S. Nationals in Funny Car on Labor Day, 2009 (the NHRA equivalent to the Daytona 500 or Indy 500). Patrick has yet to claim her first Indy 500 win.

Force Hood also enjoys the advantage when it comes to her shear volume of competition. Outside of qualifying, Patrick must only compete in a single race per weekend. Force Hood, meanwhile, might have to run as many as five times over the course of a weekend.

Force Hood has one other major intangible in her favor -- the influence of her living-legend father, John Force. What better mentor could a Funny Car driver have than a father who is one of the most successful drivers ever?

Clearly, a little simple analysis reveals Force Hood reigns supreme!

The 2010 NHRA Arizona Nationals will feature Force Hood and all of drag racing's top stars, with each looking to gain valuable early momentum for the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series season.
