2010 Super Chevy Show series adds Heartland Park Topeka

KANSAS CITY (Dec. 9, 2009) – The 30th anniversary season of the Super Chevy Series schedule has added another partner for 2010. Kansas' Heartland Park Topeka will be hosting a Super Chevy Show event for the first time in nearly 20 years, while Northern California's Infineon Raceway had to drop from next year's schedule.

Heartland Park Topeka will host the event Sept. 4-5, 2010. The facility will kick off Labor Day weekend with a racer parking and test and tune event on Friday, Sept. 3 before the car show and racing begins officially on Saturday, Sept. 4.

Track owner Raymond Irwin said joining the new ownership group (SCSW, Inc.) of the Super Chevy Show series and hosting an event in Topeka was an easy decision.

"We are very proud to be associated with this group of owners," Irwin said. "It doesn't get any better than this group of owners and I think there are going to be many good things that will happen for the series immediately and we know this will be one of our premier events for the season."

Irwin said the tracks are taking feedback from fans and participants and will be quick to make the series even better.

"Race track owners are very innovative and have to move quickly," Irwin said. "That's just our nature. We have to be responsive to fans and participants and it's our desire to make our events better every year. We're excited about bringing the Super Chevy Show back to our facility."

Firebird International Raceway also made a date change, moving the event by one week to Oct. 23-24.

"Now that the Super Chevy Show series is in the hands of racing promoters, track owners and motorsports experts, everyone wants to make sure they are setting the stage for a great 30th anniversary season," Forward Sports Marketing and series coordinator, Ryan Haas said. "We are thrilled to be racing in Topeka next year and I am sure the Super Chevy Show will be at Infineon sometime in the future. It's a great facility and they are anxious about bringing the series back to Northern California."

Infineon Raceway President and General Manager, Steve Page, said he is disappointed the facility will not be hosting an event in 2010, but is optimistic there will be a Super Chevy Show event in wine country at some point.

“Our track schedule is booked far in advance each year, and we tried to create an opportunity for the Super Chevy Show in 2010, but we had previous commitments on our schedule that we weren’t able to undo," Page said. "We are certainly interested in hosting an event in the future, and our inability to host an event next year is no reflection on our interest in the series, so we’ll keep eye on the series for future years.”
