Pittsburgh Raceway Park getting all dressed up for 2012

PRP preparing for return of Nitro Jam to facility June 1-2

NORWALK, Ohio (March 20, 2012) – With the 2012 racing season just weeks away, Pittsburgh Raceway Park has been hard at work dressing up the facility and adding new features to improve the quality of racing at the legendary facility located in New Alexandria, Pennsylvania.

Among the many improvements is a new net at the top end, an extended sand trap, improvements to the starting line including advanced sensors, updates to the grandstands, tower, staging lanes and an extensive grinding project to improve the racing surface.

As a result of the track improvements most classes will move to a quarter-mile distance this season, while Top Sportsman and Top Dragster will compete at a distance of 1,000 feet. The 1,000 foot distance will allow the two quickest and fastest sportsman classes to be featured alongside the professional rounds during the Nitro Jam show during the Pittsburgh Nitro Jam June 1-2.
