NHRA Summit Racing Series, Thursday from U.S. 13 Dragway, Delmar, Del.

DELMAR, Del (September 2, 2011) – Racing kicked off today with more than 600 racers for the NHRA Summit Racing Series Northeast Division Finals at U.S. 13 Dragway, Delmar, Del. Racers are competing for both team and individual honors in the Super Pro, Pro, Street, Bike/Sled and High School classes.



Today’s racing consisted of time trials with racers representing 14 tracks across the Northeast. The team from Maple Grove Raceway has dominated the team competition and is is looking for their fourth Team Championship in a row, although the host team from U.S. 13 Dragway is looking to keep the championship for themselves. Also looking to defend their titles from 2010 are Vinny Dimino, Super Pro; Butch Weinreich, Pro; Bill Hakucsa, Street; Dale Hamilton, Bike/Sled.

Racing continues on Friday at 8:30 a.m. with additional time trials. Gates open at 7 a.m. Following the time trials will be the Race of Champions pitting the top point’s earners from each track in head to head action beginning at 4 p.m. The LCCC High School Eliminator will run time trials at 8 p.m. followed by a second time trial on Saturday morning.

Eliminations for the division championship begin on Saturday morning. Saturday’s winners in Super Pro, Pro, Street and Bike/Sled will advance to the NHRA Summit Racing Series National Championship in November at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, California, boasting a purse of $118,000.
