NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Results from Postponed National Trail Raceway, Columbus, Ohio event.

WORTH THE WAIT FOR MANS, BARTONE

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Brain Mans and Tony Bartone waited an extra month but it was worth it as they pulled their cars in to winner’s circle for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Buckeye Fuel Wars event. The event was postponed a month and move from National Trail Raceway near Columbus, Ohio, to Beech Bend Raceway Park, Bowling Green, Ky., to be concluded in conjunction with this past weekend’s final NHRA North Central Division Lucas Oil Series event.

Mans, Godfrey, Ill., outran Mike Kosky, Robin Samsel and reigning NHRA Lucas Oil National Champion Bill Reichert of Owosso, Mich., for the long awaited win in Top Alcohol Dragster. Godfrey ran 5.607 seconds, 5.570, and 5.576 in eliminations with an average speed of about 250 mph for his first win of the season.

Bartone made the haul from Long Island City, N.Y., and drove his ‘09 Centre Pointe sponsored Top Alcohol Funny Car Mustang to victory over Chris Foster, Davenport, Iowa. Bartone ran his best lap of the day covering the quarter mile in 5.630 seconds at 256.50 mph to Foster’s 5.732, 256.50.



Bartone went on to advance to the final round for Sunday’s Beech Bend Lucas Oil Series event losing to Frank Manzo who currently sits in second place in the national points standings 13 points behind Bartone.
