Jeff Moser and Kevin Wicke to pair off for delayed Quick 32 Sportsman Series final

Postponed race to take place during Grand Bend Motorplex's "Thunder by the Beach" weekend September 2-4

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO (August 22, 2011) - Before round five takes place in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, Kevin Wicke and Jeff Moser have a date to determine who will be the winner of round four.

While qualifying and most elimination rounds took place in the previous event, the Stratford Spectacular Hot August Nationals at the Grand Bend Motorplex August 4-7, the final was postponed due to rain. Top Sportsman racer Wicke, of Stratford, Ontario, and the Top Dragster entry of Moser, of Waterloo, Ontario will be paired up before the next scheduled event, the "Thunder by the Beach" weekend September 2-4 at Grand Bend.

This final is the first for two-time Quick 32 Sportsman Series champion Wicke this season, and the first-ever for Moser. Wicke drives the K&K Racing 2006 Dodge Stratus, and Moser drives the Blue Thunder Racing big-block powered 2011 Phantom Race Cars dragster.

The series is comprised of Top Dragster cars and Top Sportsman cars. Each division races against each other, and the top eliminator in each division races against each other to determine an event champion.

Wicke eliminated Top Sportsman racers Dan Aitken Jr of Belle River, Ontario and Phil Sampson of Granton, Ontario to get to the final. Moser won the third and fourth Top Dragster rounds against Scott Wildgust of Wartburg, Ontario, and Jamie Bridge of Napanee, Ontario.

Number one qualifier in Top Dragster with a 6.151 was Rick Kopp of Burlington, Ontario, eliminated in the first round, and Frank Goddard of Guelph, Ontario was number one in Top Sportsman with a 6.796, but could not make the eliminations. Moser qualified sixth in the Top Dragster field, and Wicke was number three seed on the Top Sportsman side.

Going into the next event, Sampson leads the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts 2011 Championship Point Award Series Standings with 868 points, followed by Bridge with 848 points. The Top Sportsman entry of Darrin Grubb of Pine River, Ontario is third with 809 points, the team of Rob Gray and Bill Wilson from Ingersoll, Ontario is next with 782 points in their Top Sportsman car, and fifth is another Top Sportsman car, Bob Bauer Jr of Elma, New York with 761 points.

With their final round appearances, Moser is sixth with 759 points, and Wicke is seventh with 757 points.

The upcoming round in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series over the Labor Day weekend at Grand Bend will be held in conjunction with their companion series, the Pro Modified Racing Association, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series. This will be the finish of the postponed fourth event, and then the fifth event in the 2011 six-race series.

The weekend will also feature Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, a wheelstander and jet car action.

On Friday September 2 there will be a Test & Tune session beginning at 11 am, the gates open to the public at 3:00 pm, and the first qualifying round in the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS takes place at 7:15 pm.

After Time Trial sessions for Bracket racers on Saturday afternoon, qualifying continues at 4 pm for the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS, as well as round one for the Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, Wheelstander and Jet Cars. The semi-final PBSS eliminations for the postponed Stratford Spectacular event will also take place at this time. At 7 pm qualifying and the show cars return, and the evening closes with fireworks. The final eliminations in all three series from the postponed Stratford Spectacular will be held just before this regularly scheduled show.

At 11:15 am Sunday September 4 eliminations begin along with a return of the Nostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, the Wheelstander and Jet Cars. Eliminations for the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS will continue through the day, with the final rounds scheduled for 5 pm.
