Nitro Jam’s biggest events just around the bend

Salt Lake and Edmonton kick off Nitro Jam’s summer season beginning in June

NORWALK, Ohio (May 13, 2011) – Through the first half of the 2011 Nitro Jam schedule there has certainly been no shortage of great racing, massive crowds and thrilling shows to get the season underway.

But while the first portion of the season can only be labeled as impressive, it can only serve as a taste of what is to come as Nitro Jam prepares to kick off its summer season beginning next month at two of the biggest events of the entire season.

Following a stop at Pittsburgh Raceway Park on May 20-21, Nitro Jam will head west for the second time this year beginning in mid-June for two of the biggest Nitro Jam events of the year. Stopping first in Salt Lake City at Rocky Mountain Raceways for the Salt Lake Nitro Jam presented by NAPA and then heading north of the border to Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway for the MOPAR Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals, there is no shortage of great racing upcoming to fill the summer months for drag racing fans in the west.

“We had a great deal of success to begin the year at some great tracks in Florida, Louisiana, Arizona and Texas and now, following a huge event in Pittsburgh coming up shortly, we are preparing to pack up and head west for some of the best racing you will see anywhere in the country,” said Nitro Jam President Aaron Polburn. “Salt Lake City and Edmonton will have some of the best racers in North America in competition with a great show to boot featuring the debut of drag racing Grave Digger in each of those markets. I can’t wait to bring this exciting show back to the west.”

Nitro Jam’s summer tour will actually kickoff a few days before the official first day of summer, but that won’t stop the action on the track from being some of the hottest of the season.

Kicking off the summer schedule will be Rocky Mountain Raceways as Salt Lake City prepares for the second annual Salt Lake Nitro Jam presented by NAPA June 17-18. Last year’s Salt Lake Nitro Jam featured the largest crowd in the history of the track and Nitro Jam officials are expecting more of the same with a huge lineup of nitro entertainment featuring one of the biggest west coast Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car showdowns of the year, Top Fuel Dragsters and Nostalgia Fuel Altereds.

Utah fans will also witness the drag racing debut of the world-famous Grave Digger monster truck taking to the quarter-mile against the 30,000 horsepower Shockwave jet semi, jet dragsters, wheelstanders and more.

One week following the Salt Lake Nitro Jam the series will head north of the border for the single biggest Nitro Jam of the season in Edmonton, Alberta at legendary Castrol Raceway for the 10th annual MOPAR Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals.

And in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Canada’s largest drag race, Nitro Jam will be bringing its biggest show of the year to Canada for three days of non-stop drag racing action. Featuring Top Fuel Dragsters, the west coast’s best Prostalgia Nitro Funny Cars, Nostalgia Fuel Altereds, a full field of Nitro Harleys, the return of Pro Mod racing to the IHRA, Grave Digger taking on Shockwave and much more, Edmonton fans will be in for a treat when Nitro Jam returns to the heart of Alberta.

Tickets are on sale now for both events and can be purchased online by visiting http://www.nitrojam.com/ or by calling the track.
