ADRL Teams Up With Kansas Army National Guard For Independence Drags V At Heartland Park Topeka

O'FALLON, MO (May 25, 2011) – The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) in association with the Kansas Army National Guard announced on Wednesday that the Kansas Army National Guard will serve as the title sponsor for the upcoming Independence Drags V, and the event will officially be titled the ADRL Kansas Army National Guard Independence Drags V.

The much-anticipated event is the fourth stop on the nine-race 2011 ADRL Tour and it takes place June 17-18 at Heartland Park Topeka (HPT) in Topeka, Kan.

"We are very excited to again partner with the Kansas Army National Guard at the Independence Drags. It is a relationship that has developed over the past several years and we anticipate more great success working with them again," ADRL Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Brian Evans said.

"We have proven that the National Guard and the American Drag Racing League make a fantastic team. The people of Kansas, as well as the worldwide racing community can look forward to an exciting show as well as a lot of fun leading up to the race."

The Independence Drags at HPT has become a highly-anticipated stop on the ADRL Tour and has annually been home to strong crowds, exceptional racing and a festive family atmosphere.

ADRL officials are expecting an even bigger event in 2011.

"We moved the race to June to avoid conflicting with our fans' Fourth of July plans and now with the support of the Kansas National Guard, we are confident this will be the biggest Independence Drags we've ever had," ADRL Executive Vice President Jeff Fortune said.

"It is really rewarding to see the community react to the generosity of the National Guardsman and women when they are distributing our complimentary ADRL tickets. The ADRL fans love the opportunity to come out and show their appreciation for what these men and women do every day for our nation."

The Kansas Army National Guard is composed primarily of traditional Guardsmen – civilians who serve their country, state and community on a part-time basis.

Its Soldiers have been involved in the nation's conflicts since the state's inception as a territory.
