Qualifying completed in PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and PBSS at Canadian Nitro Nationals at Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park_..

Montesano, Goddard, Kopp, Orfanidis, and Swartz head up qualifying

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (July 2, 2011) – The qualifying rounds in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series were completed Saturday during the Canadian Nitro Nationals at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario.

This is the third event for all the series in their 2011 six-race schedule.

Vito Montesano of Maple, Ontario qualified his 1969 Camaro number one in the PMRA with a 5.907-second, 245.54-mph run. Close behind in second is Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario, with a 5.959, 242.58 pass. Third is John Russo of Middletown, Massachusetts with a 6.005, 239.31. Kenny Lang of Grande Pointe, Manitoba is fourth, and Jeff Roth of Kitchener, Ontario rounds out the top five.

Frank Goddard of Guelph, Ontario, took the number one spot in the Top Sportsman side of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, qualifying his 2008 Cobalt with a 6.856-second, 208.85-mph pass. Doug Cadman of Courtland, Ontario, is second with a 6.960, 200.83 pass in his 1955 Thunderbird. The 1963 Corvette of Darryl McMillen of Goderich, Ontario is third with a 6.984, 197.51. Mike Digby of Sterling, Ontario and Kevin Wicke of Stratford, Ontario round of the top five in Top Sportsman.

On the Top Dragster side of the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, Rick Kopp of Burlington, Ontario took the number one spot with a 6.063-second, 227.50-mph run. Second is Peter Edwards of Honeoye, New York with a 6.233 221.38 posting, and Scott Wildgust of Wartburg is third with a 6.510, 209.75. Fourth and fifth spot in Top Dragster are Billy White of Gadshill, Ontario, and Tony Positano of Toronto, Ontario.

Leading the Pro Bike side of the PBSS is John Orfanidis of Toronto, Ontario, who rode his Suzuki to a 7.920-second, 167.38-mph pass. Next is Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ontario with an 8.184, 157.76. Third is Ted Glinny of Milton, Ontario with an 8.463, 150.92. Randy Hope of London, Ontario is next, and Mike Konopacki of Hampton, Ontario rounds out the top five on the Top Bike side.

Michael Swartz of Beachville, Ontario is number one qualifier in the PBSS Pro Sleds, with an 8.401-second, 166.52-mph pass. Dave Marshall of Prescott, Ontario is second with an 8.592, 173.78, and Bill Anderson is third with a 9.095, 146.69.

Racing resumes Sunday, July 3 with the elimination rounds in all series, scheduled to begin 11:15 a.m. with the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PMRA and PBSS will begin their finals at 1:00 p.m.
