NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Final Results from Infineon Raceway

FAUL REPEATS WIN AT INFINEON


SONOMA, Calif. – For the second year in a row, Mark Faul, Tacoma, Wash., brought home a win over the weekend in Super Stock during the Pacific division’s NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event presented by Korbel at Infineon Raceway. Faul faced Brian McClanahan, Alta Loma, Calif., in the finals where his ’98 Grand Am was victorious against McClanahan’s ’67 Camaro. Prior to this win, Faul has made three prior appearances in the finals this season, including a win at South Georgia Motorsports Park.



Driving from Tehachapi, Calif., Scott McClay earned his first win of the year in Comp Eliminator over Michael Stone, Tulare, Calif. McClay topped off his final run with a perfect light in addition to his win. In Stock Eliminator, the Lang family from Washington met in the finals. Jody Lang, from Puyallup, drove his ’81 Malibu Wagon against Toby Lang, from Auburn, and his ’69 Chevelle. Jody had the faster reaction time and added another check in the win column to go along with his other victories this year, including at the Kragen O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals in Pomona and the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas in Super Stock where Toby also took home the win in Stock Eliminator.

Two contenders for the Division 7 Super Comp championship faced off over the weekend in the finals. Justin Morgan, Concord, Calif., had the advantage off the line and held on for the win with 8.911 seconds at 166.99 mph over Aaron Kinard, San Marcos, Calif and his pass of 8.927 seconds at 165.64 mph. Following this trip to the finals, Kinard stands in first place in points followed by Morgan in third.

In a battle of the ‘60s Corvettes, Super Gas finals saw Jason Brink and his ’63 ride take on Ed DeStaute and his ’62 Corvette. Brink, Benicia, Calif., got out to an early lead and a pass of 9.911 seconds at 153.02 mph to DeStaute’s 9.932 second, 144.44 mph run. Brink’s approximate seven foot victory marks his first win of the year.

In Sportsman Motorcycle presented by Harley Davidson, Dennis Sacco, N. Las Vegas, Nev., made his second trip to the finals this year. Currently in second place in points, Sacco faced off against Pete Miclette, Garberville, Calif. Miclette, took home the win at Sonoma and his first of the season after Sacco got off to too early of a start.

Other winners include David Adams, Livermore, Calif., who drove his ’85 Mustang to a victory over Gene Clark, Bakersfield, Calif., and his ’70 Camaro in Super Street; in Top Sportsman, Dave Slatten, Ft. Collins, Colo., defeated Chris Newman, Lancaster, Calif.; and in Top Dragster, Will Harrison, Tracy, Calif., took home the win over Sheldon Gecker, Surprise, Ariz.

Running in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Series this weekend was the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mods with Miek Maggio, San Dimas, Calif., taking the win over Dan Nickelson, LaVerne, Calif., with a lap of 5.896 seconds at 251.63 mph.

Pacific Division racers will head to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Nov 4-6 for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event.
