This is a chance for everyone to relive this historical place. 1984 thousands of dreams and memories were shattered when they shut it down. We need your thoughts and experience written down. It has been a dream of mine to make a pass down that GREAT drag strip again.I know it would be great for the town of Houbart if it was back open again. I know there are other drag strips around, but not like this one. Maybe if we made it a 1/8 mile drag strip, things would be cheaper for the racers and the new track owners. This would mean cheaper Insurance and this would be the only 1/8 mile track around in this area. 1/8 mile tracks are faster turn arounds. I mean Let`s just say we open at 9:00am we would be done at 4:00pm or 4:30pm and then we would not be bothering people around us. Remember, that`s what hurt the track in the first place. The neighbors complained about the noise and it staying open too late. Dale Letterly From Dwight ILL

US 30 holds very fond childhood memories for me going there with my dad. Now as an adult it would be a dream come true to run down that legendary track. I feel it would also give the local area a much needed economical boost. As for the noise complaints it's kinda like moving next to a landfill and complaining about the smell. The track was there long before you moved by it
