Santa Ana Drags and Main Street Malt Shop Reunion...19

The semi-annual Santa Ana Drags and Main Street Malt Shop Reunion is scheduled for October 6, 2012, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Santiago Creek Park, on the border of the cities of Orange and Santa Ana. Gene Mitchell will once again cater the lunch for us. There is no cost or fees for parking and the food is free, courtesy of Gene and his crew. Feel free to come earlier or stay later and bring your entire family. Children are welcome and the park is a pleasant place to walk, visit or play. The men and women who raced at the Santa Ana Drag Strip are the original drag racers. Come and talk to them and learn about our early heritage. Santiago Creek Park directions; from Main Street, go east on East Memory Lane for approximately 1000 feet until you come to a signal and a street called Lawson Way and turn right. That will take you down into the creek bed, which is paved for parking. The picnic area is right next to the parking lot. Be sure to bring photo albums and memorabilia to show other people. Roger and I will be there to introduce you to others. Leslie Long is the coordinator for the event. If you have any questions, please contact me at Rnparks1@juno.com.
