Rocky Reports: Indy AA/GS happening

First I'd like to thank Eileen Daniels and Steve Gibbs for their help in allowing us the opportunity to bring back the classical AA/GS cars to the biggest race on the NHRA tour. The AA/GS class was much more than a class to run in, it was a magical mix of racers, crew and personalities that raced at this event in the hey day of the gas classes (60's to 67) and the people that appreciated it so much that they decided to pour their money, heart and soul into these cars to give the fans a glimpse of what made this class so exciting...

The fan response was over whelming... all of the NHRA officials and "Big Show" racers that visited our pit had nothing but great things to say about our "show/race". Hearing Fast Jack Beckman talk about how much he loved these cars was especially cool... To see the look on Barb Hamilton, Dave Hales, Gene Altizer and all the legends that ran Indy was truly priceless.

To have Bones Balogh drive the Pirrone & Ellershaw race team's Big John Mazmanian 41 Willys tribute car was just another highlight to such a great event. Bones had won Indy back in 1962 and he was gunning for his second Indy title 50 years later! Unfortunately mother nature didn't cooperate, but we'll be back next weekend to try and put one of our cars in the winners circle, and more important, go out and give the fans a glimpse of what made drag racing the sport it is today...
